Seven Reasons Why Cash-Based Physical Therapy is the Better Option

Updated: Feb 16, 2021

You’ve probably visited insurance-based physical therapy providers at some time in your life. If so, you know the drill: multiple sessions per week, long waits, and only a small percentage of your already short appointment time spent with your primary physical therapist, then you’re thrown to PT aides. If you have a high insurance deductible, you’re paying out of pocket anyway.

Most importantly, under insurance, PTs can only bill for treating one body part at a time. If your ankle and shoulder are both bothering you, too bad, you’ll need to make another appointment for one of them and the treatment cannot be truly integrated. It’s maddening.

There is a better way! Cash-based PT is a much more efficient, cost-effective and successful way to treat your issues.

· Low cost and no red tape

Often going through insurance results in high deductibles, high copays and scrutiny by insurance companies over what’s covered. As a result, patients often have lower out of pocket expenses simply paying for PT services and bypassing an insurance carrier. Frequently clients pay out of pocket for chiropractic care or a massage therapist, so why not consider the same for high quality one-on-one PT?

· No doctor referral necessary

In Colorado, you get direct access to a PT if you’re not going through insurance. This leads to faster, more positive outcomes with less time. And, you’re able to schedule an appointment immediately without waiting through your pain.

· More one-on-one time with your PT

I will see you for one hour each visit. I won’t be running between patients and you won’t get stuck with an aide. This allows me to fully assess your body and your issue. I’ll observe you the entire time you’re performing exercises and be able to help make crucial adjustments so you can get correct movement to take into your at-home routine. The end-result is a completely tailored and individualized treatment plan to correct your specific issues.

· Quality time with a DPT(Doctor of Physical Therapy) who provides optimal care

Personalized attention builds more trust and actually enables a more successful outcome for the patient. Being able to trust your therapist has a powerful impact on your healing. In the long run, you’ll feel better about your body and your understanding of how it works and how to correctly and optimally perform your exercises and strengthening program so you can get back to doing what you love.

· More freedom to address multiple body issues at the same time

It’s frustrating that insurance companies can strongly control whether or when you get better based on what they’ll approve. Because insurance companies require that only one body part can be addressed at each visit, this means that you would need two separate evaluations and visits to address different parts of your body!

I can treat multiple body parts and work with the entire musculoskeletal system to integrate your treatment. This literally means the difference between healing or remaining stuck in movement patterns that are causing you pain. What’s going on in your hip may be caused by weakness in your core, or that your upper back mobility is limited, and with the self-pay structure, I can address all of them at once!

· High-value expert services

Your out of pocket PT services are very cost-effective. You’ll get a higher value with transparent, affordable pricing. PT’s have an extensive education with doctorate degrees. We specialize in musculoskeletal injuries; optimize health and movement, while reducing pain and helping you return to normal life and the activities you love. In addition, manual therapy helps decrease pain and other symptoms.

· Your health is your greatest wealth

What price would you pay to improve your quality of life and to return to the things that you love to do? The self-pay PT model will get you there more cost-effectively, with less time, and with a better outcome and more confidence than the outmoded insurance model.

I’d love to work with you to help you get your body back to optimal performance and health!
